Mini Vacation Weekend

Since we've been saving up vacation time for when the baby comes, we decided to make the most of the long 4th of July weekend with a mountain getaway. Unfortunately, a lot of other people had the same idea, so the drive home on Sunday (usually a 90 minute trip) took more than 4 hours. However, the time up until then was lovely. We stayed at Lloyd's Inn, a nice B&B with its own geothermal pool -- a swimming pool fed by underground hot springs. There was also a really sweet chocolate lab puppy to keep us company since we had left our own dogs at my parents. The Inn is located along a rushing stream fed by melting snow pack higher in the mountains, so we enjoyed bar-b-queing on the inn's back patio along the stream, breakfasts served on a deck built out over the stream, and sleeping to the sound of the stream outside our window.

We enjoyed drives up dirt roads into the mountains to explore old mining "ghost" towns, and otherwise lazed around reading the Harry Potter books again and watching movies.
