This is my first post, so I'll give a little background. My husband and I have been married for 7 years, and for the last 3-4, God has been revealing to us that His plans for growing our family will include adoption. So we're in the final waiting period for adopting our first baby through an infant domestic adoption here in Colorado. We're just waiting for that call from our adoption agency telling us that we have been matched with a birthmother. Until recently, the wait didn't seem so hard, but now it seems that every day that passes, the wait gets a little harder. We keep praying for the birthmother and baby, but praying for God's timing is a hard thing to do sometimes!
One of my friends said that a friend of hers who is also waiting for an adoption decided to call this time "preparing" instead of "waiting." I am trying that new tactic, but it still feels like "waiting." However, there is still much to do in the preparing:

1) Our nursery is only 1/2 done -- I painted the walls (white on the bottom and yellow on top), and my dad helped us install a chair rail and window frames, so now I need to paint those, and then put up my border -- Classic Winnie-the-Pooh! YAY! Then find an area rug, buy a rocking chair, get the crib from our friends, buy a dresser...
2) So many house projects: clean the gutters, repair the screen door, insulate the crawl space, remodel the front bathroom, touch up paint around the house...
3) Find/interview pediatricians -- what do we ask them? "Are you good with kids?" "Can we talk about vaccine issues?" "Do you understand adoption complexities?"
So that's where we are as we head toward the end of May. How crazy is it that we're already at Memorial Day weekend! Ack!
