The House Projects That Never End

The night before we closed on our first house back in 2002, I had a a few minutes of panic thinking, "this is too much responsibility!" 3 houses later, I am more fully convinced than ever that thought was true! Today was spent:
  • Washing a pile of dishes
  • Doing more under-sink plumbing (the dishwasher drain is now hooked up!)
  • Planting more garden stuff -- beans, corn, and sunflowers
  • Helping Shawn to clean out gutters and the swamp cooler on the roof
  • Laundry
  • Straightening up the house

Still to do this evening:

  • Mow the lawn
  • Spray the weeds that are invading my front rock garden
  • Water the veggie garden
  • Clean out the trash pile that is Shawn's car

Somehow, although I watched and helped my parents do stuff like this growing up, I never realized how all-consuming it can be! But making our house into a HOME and a place for us to live and to raise our family is also a good thing, so even though the chore list seems unending at times, I still mostly enjoy the process because it's ours. Being able to go to Home Depot and buy the raw materials we need to fix things around our house makes me proud of being a grown up homeowner. Well those are all my thoughts for now, as I need to make some dinner to fuel us up to finish the chore list for tonight. Tomorrow: finish painting the trim in the nursery so I can put up the border this week! YAY!
